News Release

The District of Coldstream is inviting residents to participate in the Fall 2026 Wood Chipping Initiative, which is designed to help reduce wildfire risk and support FireSmart practices throughout the community.

The service provides residents with a convenient way to dispose of woody debris such as branches, shrubs, and small trees for free. By removing these materials from their properties, homeowners can significantly decrease potential fire hazards and improve the safety of their homes and neighbourhoods.

As wildfire seasons continue to pose a risk across the region, the District is taking proactive steps to support residents in reducing combustible materials around their properties. The Wood Chipping Initiative is a practical and effective way for homeowners to take part in community-wide wildfire prevention efforts.

Residents interested in participating are encouraged to sign up through the District website. Program details, including eligibility requirements, preparation guidelines, and scheduling, will be provided to registered participants.
