ORDER
WHEREAS a wildfire on Lavington began on September 5, 2025 within the District of Coldstream;
AND WHEREAS the wildfire has caused or threatens to cause widespread or severe damage to homes, infrastructure, natural resources, and poses a significant threat to the health, safety, and welfare of the residents;
AND WHEREAS this wildfire emergency requires prompt coordination of action or special regulation of persons or property to protect the health, safety or welfare of people or to limit damage to property;
NOW THEREFORE:
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED pursuant to Section 95 (1) of the Emergency and Disaster Management Act, that a state of local emergency exists in the Lavington area of the District of Coldstream due to impeding wildfire threat and the potential harm to persons and property.
Per Section 97 (1) of the Emergency and Disaster Management Act, the state of local emergency will remain in force for fourteen days, until the end of September 12, 2025, unless cancelled by the District of Coldstream or the Minister responsible.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED THAT the District of Coldstream, its employees, servants and agents are empowered pursuant to Section 13 (1) of the Emergency Program Act to do all acts and implement all procedures that are considered necessary to prevent or to alleviate the effects of the emergency.
