Campfire Ban Lifted in the District of Coldstream

Type
Public Notice

In alignment with BC Wildfire Service’s decision to lift the campfire ban across the Kamloops Fire Centre, which includes the District of Coldstream, residents are once again permitted to enjoy small campfires on private property, effective 12:00 p.m. (noon) today (Monday, September 29, 2025).

If you plan to have a campfire, please remember the following safety requirements:

  • Campfires are only allowed on private property — not in public spaces such as parks, beaches, or trails.
  • Never leave a fire unattended.
  • Ensure your fire is fully extinguished before leaving the area.
  • Keep campfires small, contained, and away from structures, dry grass, or other flammable materials.
  •  Burn only dry, seasoned firewood — no yard waste, plastics, or garbage.
  • Be mindful of your neighbours; avoid creating heavy smoke or odours.
  • Always keep water or a hand tool nearby.
  • Fires must be no larger than 1.5 feet high by 1.5 feet wide, as recommended by BC Wildfire Service.

Let’s all enjoy this season safely and responsibly. Thank you for helping protect our community.
