Recognition of Certified Municipal Clerk Designation
Nicole Cressman, Director of Corporate Administration, has earned the prestigious Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC).
The achievement was formally recognized at the Council Meeting, where Acting Mayor Levy presented Ms. Cressman with her certificate in acknowledgment of her dedication to professional excellence and service to the community.
The CMC program, administered by the IIMC, is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and job performance of municipal clerks in both small and large municipalities. To earn the designation, candidates must complete significant educational components, accumulate professional experience points, and commit to upholding the IIMC Code of Ethics.
The Certified Municipal Clerk designation is recognized internationally as a mark of excellence and accomplishment in the field of municipal administration. Ms. Cressman’s commitment to continuous learning and ethical governance exemplifies the values that drive the District’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery.
Replacement of Trees at Cenotaph Park
You may have noticed that the two large box elder trees at the entrance to Cenotaph Park were heavily pruned this summer. BC Hydro’s contractor carried out tree trimming around power lines throughout Coldstream to protect electrical infrastructure.
While the box elders are still healthy, they’ll continue to grow into the power lines. Because of this, Council has approved a plan for BC Hydro to remove the two trees and replace them with more suitable species—likely Honey Locust or Azur Maple—that won’t interfere with the lines.
The new trees will be planted about 8–10 feet farther from the power lines and should grow quickly to provide shade again within a few years. BC Hydro will cover all costs for removing and replacing the trees.
