About the Position
The District of Coldstream is seeking applications for Paid-On-Call Firefighters. Reporting to the Fire Chief through the established chain of command, Firefighters are Paid-On-Call emergency responders dedicated to protecting residents, visitors, property, and environment of the District of Coldstream. Operating as front-line responders, Firefighters directly participate in fire suppression, rescue operations, motor vehicle incidents, and emergency incident management activities.
Using the Department's app-based paging system, Firefighters respond to incidents, training activities, community events, and other departmental functions as required. Given the Paid-On-Call nature of the role, members are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to the Department and maintain reasonable availability to support emergency response and community protection objectives. Firefighters may be called upon to respond at any time of the day or night and may remain on scene for extended periods during emergency incidents.

Requirements
- Every Applicant to or Member of the Department must reside or work full-time (35 hours per week or more) at a location that is within a response proximity of ten (10) minutes or less from their residence or place of work to their respective fire hall.
- Ability to respond to calls and be available to attend practice on Tuesday evenings (Successful applicants are expected to meet or exceed department attendance percentage)
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a demonstrated safe driving record.
- Physically capable of performing firefighting duties
- At least 19 years of age
- Ability to obtain and maintain an acceptable Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Ability to successfully complete basic firefighter training and certification requirements.
